Rook and dominoes
John R. Rice was an aggressive and inveterate player of games -- especially a version
of the Rook card game called "One High" and a version of Dominoes called
"42", which was played in domino parlors in small towns in Texas. This card
table was the scene of many a family bloodbath. |

Kitchen table
Early every morning for decades, John R. and Lloys sat at this table and prayed for
hundreds of people around the world by name. The amount of cholesterol consumed at this
table would have killed a hundred horses, but didn't seem to do much damage to Lloys or
John R. Rice, both of whom lived to a respectable old age. |
